Netstrata Foundation Partners With SSMRF to Launch Recycle 4 Research in Strata Buildings
%20(1).webp)
The Netstrata Foundation is proud to partner with the St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF) to roll out Recycle 4 Research, a simple and zero-cost initiative that turns eligible 10-cent bottles and cans into funding for vital local medical research.
Recycle 4 Research is an approved charity initiative supported through the NSW Return and Earn scheme, helping everyday recycling deliver real outcomes for our local hospitals and community.
A practical sustainability initiative designed for strata
In strata buildings, waste management is a shared responsibility, and overflowing yellow bins are a common frustration for residents and committees.
Recycle 4 Research is designed to work with strata, not against it.
It is easy to set up, reduces landfill, helps ease yellow bin overflow, and gives residents a practical way to support their community, simply by recycling bottles and cans they already use every day.
Completely free for participating buildings
One of the strongest benefits of the program is that there is no cost to the building or residents.
SSMRF provides:
• The recycling bin
• Bin room and wall signage
• Training for residents on what to recycle and how collections work
• Clear instruction materials
• Ongoing support to ensure smooth operation
• Reporting so the building can see the outcomes achieved
SSMRF also liaises directly with strata contacts to set up the program, so there is minimal impact on strata management teams.
How it works in 4 simple steps
Participation is simple for residents and easy for committees to support:
1. SSMRF drops off the bin, signage and instructions
2. Residents sort eligible 10-cent bottles and cans
3. Residents deposit containers into the Recycle 4 Research bin
4. A nominated resident books a pick-up when the bin is full
Pilot program now launching across selected apartment buildings
We are launching a strata pilot in selected apartment blocks to fine-tune the approach before expanding more broadly across Sydney.
The pilot will focus on smaller blocks with engaged committees or resident champions, so we can ensure the rollout is smooth and delivers strong results for residents and SSMRF.
Want your building involved?
If you manage a building that could be a good fit for the pilot, we would love to hear from you.
At the end of the day, participating buildings receive an additional recycling bin (or more), without needing to arrange collections or manage the program. SSMRF handles the setup, training, and ongoing support.

Together, we can turn everyday recycling into life-changing medical research.
